In Conversation with White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Ashish Jha


For the past few months, Ashish Jha, former medicine resident and chief resident at UCSF and dean of the School of Public Health at Brown University, has served as the coordinator of the White House COVID-19 response.

Ashish returns to Medicine Grand Rounds to share insights from his new role. We’ll review the state of the pandemic, mandates, variants, Paxlovid, vaccines and boosters, funding challenges, and other topical issues.

A practicing physician, Ashish K. Jha, MD, MPH, was appointed as coordinator of the COVID-19 response by President Biden. Prior to assuming this role, he served as dean of the School of Public Health at Brown University. He is recognized globally as an expert on pandemic preparedness and response as well as on domestic and global health policy. Ashish has led groundbreaking research around Ebola and has been a trusted voice on the COVID-19 response, leading national and international analysis of key issues and advising state and federal policy makers.
